Glasgow IV to Resume

Date 9th September 2025

Following the conclusion of Glasgow IV part 2 hearings on 29 August 2025, the final block of Glasgow IV, part 3, will begin on 16 September. This session will hear evidence from the remaining witnesses necessary to conclude the Inquiry in relation to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

The key issues being addressed will cover the following subjects:

  • The procurement, design and construction of the hospital
  • The role of the Scottish Government in the procurement, design and construction of the hospital
  • The emergence of issues about the building, the IPC team and infections after opening in 2015, 2016 and 2017
  • The response to the water incident and subsequent concerns about the building, infections and IPC team in 2018 and 2019
  • Whistleblowing
  • The management of risk within NHS GGC and in particular use of the corporate risk register
  • The role of the Scottish Government and the Oversight Board in taking actions to remedy defects and the extent to which they have been adequate and effective
  • The extent to which lessons have been learned from the experience from 2015 to 2020 of the processes and practices of reporting healthcare associated infections within QEUH
