The Inquiry concluded its oral hearings with a closing oral hearing on the material heard by the Inquiry in relation to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Royal Hospital for Children between 20 to 23 January 2026. 

Lord Brodie heard closing statements from Counsel to the Inquiry and Core Participants, including NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and representatives of the affected patients and families.

In his closing remarks, he expressed his gratitude to the witnesses who contributed by providing evidence and submitting their statements. He also gave his thanks to the legal representatives of the Core Participants, the Inquiry team and to Counsel for bringing the Inquiry to its present stage.

The statements, and all the evidence gathered over the course of the hearings will be considered by the Chair, and his findings will be published in the final report, which will be submitted to Scottish Ministers in due course.
